PHI

Protected Health Information (PHI) is any healthcare data that can be used to identify an individual and the their past, present, or future health conditions, treatments, or payments. PHI is regularly created and maintained by health insurers, healthcare provider, and other entities. It is subject to regulation under the United States HIPAA and HITECH legislation, and similar regulations in other jurisdictions.
